Hello!

About Me

Software Engineer | Lifetime Learner | Positive Upbeat Human

Automating the tedious, simplifying the complex | Expert in troubleshooting & delivering scalable solutions

I'm a solution-driven Software Engineer with a strong foundation in systems analysis and full-stack development. Over the past several years, I've built scalable internal tools, automated complex workflows, and solved mission-critical performance issues across diverse environments.

What sets me apart isn't just what I code, it's how I think. I ask the right questions, hunt down root causes, and bring clarity to messy or undefined problems. Whether I'm building performance testing tools, automating financial processes, or designing intuitive user interfaces, I’m focused on delivering practical, maintainable solutions that make life easier for others.

I am a world traveler born and raised in Seattle and currently living somewhere else on the globe.

Summary

I’m a software engineer with a wide range of skills and a love for building solutions that make things easier, faster, and more reliable. If you need a webpage and don’t know where to start, I’ve got you. Whether it’s acquiring a domain, setting up hosting, or building a site from scratch (or WordPress, Shopify, etc.), I'll get it done.

Need something more behind-the-scenes? I can build web apps using C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, or PHP. I’ve worked on everything from internal tooling to metrics dashboards, and I’m no stranger to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and smooth deployments using modern DevOps practices. Basically, if you want something to work automatically, reliably, and without hassle, I’m into it.

If you’ve got a quirky side project—like a robot that brings you snacks or a script that automates your Monday morning routine, I’m game. I can either build it or help you build it yourself with tools that don’t require a PhD in computer science to understand.

Bottom line? If you have an idea, a problem, or just a "wouldn't it be cool if…" thought, send me a message. I’ll tell you what’s possible, what it might take, and if it’s in my wheelhouse, we’ll get it done. Simple as that.

Employment Portfolio

What I’ve been up to professionally (besides learning to love meetings):

Software Engineer

Large retail company 2.5 years
  • Design and implement scalable software solutions using C# and .NET.
  • Develop libraries and tools that help internal teams tap into powerful but underused APIs.
  • Conduct weekly integration load tests to ensure APIs perform during high traffic (looking at you, holiday season!).
  • Improve custom performance tools built with .NET and Azure DevOps.
  • Create visualizations to help leadership understand costs, performance, and sustainability impacts.

Senior Business Systems Analyst

Large retail company 4 years
  • Built internal tools with JavaScript, SharePoint, REST APIs, and Power BI for finance teams.
  • Supported global capital project approvals—handling hundreds of millions in tracked projects.
  • Refactored code to reduce load time by 70% and automated prioritization for project intake.
  • Created leadership-facing dashboards that helped a PMO team manage a $10M annual portfolio.

Operations Analyst

Parks and Recreation - 17 years
  • Modernized operations through asset management, GIS mapping, and digital signage tools.
  • Developed a project intake/tracking system for a $2M annual budget.
  • Implemented renewal strategies that saved ~$250K annually.

Hobby Portfolio

Here's what I get up to when I'm not engineering things at work or plotting my next coffee run:

Random Eat dot com

Random Eat

A responsive webapp using Flask, Python, and a REST API. The app's intent is to help you decide where to eat when you're being indecisive or if you want to be adventurous. The user puts in their location and type of food desired (optional) and hits submit. They are provided with a random restaurant in their area along with a link to view more details on the chosen restaurant

Emergency Alert Receiver System

Open source code that serves as a POC using a LoRaWAN-powered mesh messaging network to broadcast and display emergency alerts when cell and WiFi go down. Built with AT&T and PBS technology. The systems intercepts FEMA emergency alert messages, decodes the message and displays the info. Developed to be used completely without any internet/data connectivity in case of extreme emergency. System watches for PBS alert signals that are transmitted in television signals, decodes the signal from XML format using Python, repacks message and can display in a variety of ways. Uses Raspberry Pi’s and radio transceivers, Flask, Python, PyGame and other tools.

pi car

Raspberry Pi Security

Created a custom home server and a DIY video & text message home security system that sends real-time alerts.

Sense Hat

Sense Hat Temps

Designed a plant watering system and home temperature sensor that texts me when it gets too hot, because I like my houseplants to be happy.

Cybersecurity Curiosity

Whether I’m exploring CTFs, poking at apps in the name of security, or responsibly disclosing bugs, I’ve got a few bug bounties under my belt. Breaking things to make them better is kind of my thing.

Hot Sauce Extraordinairer

When I’m not coding, I’m cooking. I’m the author of a spicy little cookbook and the proud founder of a hot sauce company that takes flavor as seriously as I take clean code.
